Almofadas de Natal - Christmas pillowcases

Há cerca de um mês atrás começava eu a trabalhar nas minhas almofadas natalícias, como vos tinha dito aqui.
Algures entre as curtas sestas do Salvador, fui conseguindo terminar-las.
Deixo-vos com o resultado final.

Nearly a month ago, I'd started to work on my seasonal pillowcases, as I'd told you here.
Somehow, in between Salvador's short siestas, I managed to finish them, one by one.

Getting ready for Christmas!

Aqui em casa, começamos a preparar o nosso lar para a época natalícia no final de Outubro, início de Novembro - tal como um bom vinho se deve saborear lentamente, também gostamos de fazer perdurar as coisas boas que esta estação do ano oferece.  

Porém, nem todos os nataís são iguais. Uns ficam na memória como tendo sido extraordinários, outros "mais ou menos", outros há ainda que se classificam na categoria de: "é para esquecer!" - Como tudo na vida depende muito das circunstâncias e desafios do momento. 

Este, no entanto, é um Natal muito especial para mim e para a minha família porque temos um grande motivo para sentir toda essa energia e espírito do Natal: o nosso sementinha, claro! Se dúvidas houvesse, elas dissiparam-se completamente: O Natal ganha outro sabor quando se tem uma criança! É assim, com muita mais alegria, que laboro dia e noite para encher a nossa casa de novas cores energias.

Para já, estou a trabalhar numas almofadas para o sofá - após colocar o pinheiro, as luzinhas, as velinhas e algumas decorações, ficou para mim evidente que a transformação só ficaria completa quando o objecto central da sala fosse polvilhado de encarnado, branco e verde.

Partilharei certamente convosco o resultado final, até lá, boas decorações!

Here at home, we start preparing the house for the holiday season in late October, early November - just like a good wine, which one must sip slowly, we also like to lengthen the good things this season has to offer.

Yet, not all Christmas are equal. Some are remembered as having been extraordinary, others " more or less", there are still others, which are classified in the category of : "i'ts to be forgotten! " - Like everything in life, depends very much on the circumstances and challenges of the moment.
Nevertheless, this one, is a very special Christmas for me and my family because we have a great reason to feel all that energy and Christmas' spirit: our little prince, of course! If there were any doubts about this, they were instantly vanished: Christmas really gets a different taste when you have a child! It is therefore with much more joy that I work day and night, to fill up our house with new colors and energies.

At the moment, I'm working on some pillowcases for our couch - after assembling the Christmas tree, the lights, the candles and other decorations, it became very clear to me that the transformation wouldn't be complete until the central piece in the room was sprinkled with red, white and green.
I will certainly share the final result with you. But until then, I wish you have fun decorating your home too!

Cartão para Batizado :: Christening handmade card

Hoje vou partilhar convosco um cartão que fiz há cerca de um mês para o baptizado de uma pequena princesa. 

Quase sempre a opção mais fácil é ir até à papelaria mais próxima e comprar um cartão próprio para a ocasião. 

Bom, desta vez decidi fazer eu própria, o meu cartão, até porque o Salvador estava tranquilo o suficiente para me deixar arquitectar e executar o projecto (o quem nem sempre acontece...).  

Não tinha qualquer plano daquilo que queria alcançar quando comecei, fui cortando daqui, colando dali até que o resultado obtido me ia inspirando por si só. 

Espero que os pais tenham gostado. Eu diverti-me imenso a fazê-lo, e o Salvador também adorou brincar com todos os recortes, que lhe ia deixando propositadamente cair para o chão.

Today, I will share with you a card that I made about a month ago for the christening of a little princess.

Frequently, the easiest option is to go to the nearest stationery shop, and buy a card for the occasion. 

Well, this time I decided to make the card myself; also because my little man was quiet enough to let me architect and implement the project, which doesn't always happen...

I had no plan, whatsoever, of what I wanted to achieve when I first started, I was cutting here, pasting there, until the result was inspiring me alone.

I hope the parents liked it. I enjoyed myself a lot, making it, and Salvador did too, he was so fun playing with the papers that I would deliberately letting fall to the ground.

Enxoval de bebe especial e único - Special and unique baby layette

Hoje, vou falar-vos um pouco do inicio do meu despertar pela arte da costura.
Começou há cerca de um ano, quando ainda estava grávida do Salvador.
Como qualquer mãe, passeava os meus olhos por todas as montras que tivessem manequins em tamanho reduzido. Via muitas coisas giras por todo o lado, mas nenhuma delas transmitia o carinho que o meu bebe merecia, por isso decidi comprar um pouco de tecido e experimentar fazer "umas coisas".
As expectativas eram tão reduzidas que mal podia acreditar naquilo que as minhas mãos eram capazes de fazer. Tenho três palavras para este fenómeno: Força de vontade!
Eu queria mesmo que o meu bebe tivesse um enxoval especial e único!
Da capa para os cesto das fraldas, até à capa do ovinho, foi apenas a distância de comprar uma máquina de costura - a mais básica que houvesse.
A costura ajudou-me a lidar melhor com a minha ansiedade e salvou as minhas insónias de grávida.

Today, I will tell you a little about my awakening to the art of sewing.
It all began about a year ago, when I was still pregnant with Salvador.
Like any other mum to be, my eyes wandered through all the store windows with a mini mannequin on it. 
I saw many cute things everywhere, but none of them conveyed the affection that my baby deserved, therefore I decided to buy some fabric and try to do something with it. The expectations were so low that I hardly could believe what my hands were capable of doing.
I have one word for this phenomenon: Willpower!
I really wanted my baby to have a special and unique layette!
From the diapers basket cover, to the car seat cover, it was just a matter of buying a sewing machine - the most basic there is.
The sewing helped me deal better with my anxiety and saved my pregnancy's insomnia.
